World: Mexico’s swine flu outbreak isn’t looking quite so bad

  • Apparently the rate of infection is not as widespread as we might have thought.
  • Mexico health minister José Ángel Córdova • On the swine flu (OK, H1N1) outbreak in Mexico. Despite claims that the virus affected over 900 people in Mexico, just 397 of them actually happened to have the virus. As noted previously, Mexican officials remain cautiously optimistic that the outbreak is slowing in their country. • source

I live in S.E. Mexico, Chetumal near the Belize border to be exact. The only thing we are doing different is wearing masks and educating ourselves on the treatment of H1N1 Flu Virus. We are US Citizens, My parents moved here from Belize 3 1/2 years ago and I came here 1 1/2 years ago. There are lots of Americans, Canadians and other foreigners living here 6–12 months a year. Yes we question the numbers and a few other things, but we sometimes do that where we came from, it is in our nature to question any government. Other than masks, school canceled and no large gatherings it is only a little slow in town especially on the weekends from lack of Belizeans visiting. A lot of people stay home with their children being out of school, so that is the little slow down. Otherwise life seems normal here in MEXCIO. My saying for the day: Discrimination is the outpouring of human ignorance.
