U.S.: Police brutality on YouTube example No. 193,196: Mom gets tasered

  • The cop clearly pulled her out of the car in this case just to taser her. Jerk. We hope he gets fired for doing this during a routine traffic shop. He claimed that Audra Harmon, by the way, was talking on her cell phone, which she says she wasn’t. source

The cop had no clue if she was trying to get in her car to drive away or not. She did many things wrong. Maybe tasering could have been avoided but she shouldn’t have gotten out of her car in the first place. That is how many traffic stops go wrong, for both the officer and suspect.

What did she think was going to happen? I don’t know where people like think they have some god given right to argue with the police to get out of a ticket. Whether she did anything wrong or not there is absolutely no excuse for her actions after the police pulled her over. Has she been to driving school? Was she not thinking at all of her children in the car with her? She willfully put in jeopardy the lives of her children, herself and the officer, but it’s some how the officer’s fault. And your calling him a jerk? Come on. He did his job to keep people safe whether or not he should have pulled her over in the first place.

From the video, he has her get back in the car, then tells her to get out again so he could tase her.

That to me is the point where I feel he went to far and why I think the driver still earns my sympathy in this situation. OK, she was frustrated and was arguing with him, and tensions were escalating, but the way that the video frames it sure makes the tasing seem unnecessary. She agreed to get back into the vehicle. She listened to the cop.

Now, I’m not saying she did everything right in this situation, but it appears she did obey his order to get back into the car and still got tased anyway.

    Disagree? I’m all ears.

She got back in the car AFTER he said she was under arrest. This is what makes it her mistake. Once he declares her under arrest, it was seen as an attempt by her to flee. That’s why she got tased.

You know what? I’m really over hearing arguments on how tasing like this is ever acceptable. No, she shouldn’t have gotten out of the car in the first place. I don’t know why she wanted to “see the tape”. But she didn’t have a weapon and she wasn’t threatening. Tasers are deadly weapons. Period.
