Tech: Now that the PS3 doesn’t cost a month’s rent, people are buying it

  • three years amount of time Sony’s costly PS3 has been on the market; the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii routinely beat its sales numbers
  • $299 (finally) the cost of the PS3 Slim – which allowed Sony to finally win a month in console sales against Nintendo and Microsoft source

    Sony keeps insisting that the PS3 isn’t just a game console, that it’s an entertainment system or a lifestyle device or whatever they imagine it to be. So shouldn’t their sales be compared to Blu-Ray players or PCs or some such? As for the video game wars, console sales are pretty meaningless in and of themselves. Let’s see which system sells the most copies of Final Fantasy XIII when it comes out next Spring.
