  • 13% of Americans believe that President Obama is too supportive of Israel, according to a new poll from The Hill.
  • 39% of Americans believe that President Obama isn’t as supportive of Israel as he should be, with a full 30 percent of those polled saying they believe that the President is actually “anti-Israel.” What do you think of President Obama’s support (or lack thereof) for Israel? source

  • Tuesday Presiding judge Colonel Denise Lind denied requests, by Pfc. Bradley Manning’s legal team, to drop the myriad of federal charges currently filed against the 25-year-old soldier. Manning’s attorney says his incarceration violated rights guaranteed to the soldier by Article 10 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the U.S. Constitution.
  • Thursday Pfc. Bradley Manning entered a “guilty” plea on 10 of the 22 federal charges he faces, which carry a combined total of 20 possible years in prison. Unfortunately, the plea is not part of a deal with a prosecution, but rather a last ditch effort by Manning and his team to avoid a possible life sentence on charges of “aiding the enemy”. Charges which Manning has fervently denied throughout his incarceration. source

Openly-gay mayoral candidate slain in Mississippi: Many local residents believed Marco McMillian, 35, to be the first viable openly-gay candidate for public office in the history of Mississippi. As of now, the murder, discovered on Tuesday and reported by police on Wednesday, is not being investigated as a hate crime; however, police do already have one suspect in custody. Though they have not been formally charged, the unidentified suspect was found in McMillian’s wrecked car on Tuesday, with the Clarksdale mayoral candidate nowhere to be seen. We have moved a bill in the House twice. We should not have to move a third bill before the Senate gets off their ass and begins to do something.
Rep. John Boehner • Leaning on members of the U.S. Senate to work towards a solution to the sequestration cuts currently dominating the discussion on Capitol Hill. With roughly two days to go before approximately $83 billion in automatic cuts are triggered, the Speaker of the House denied President Obama’s claims that the GOP is holding up negotiations, saying the Republican-led chamber of Congress has already passed anti-sequestration twice, and laying blame back at the feet of the President. Unfortunately, for Speaker Boehner, the general public doesn’t seem to agree with that analysis. source

  • 600 tips have been submitted since the LAPD began offering a $1 million reward for information that leads to the arrest of Christopher Jordan Dorner,  the former cop accused of several killings in recent weeks. The reward has only been on the table for 24 hours, which certainly suggets that the LAPD can expect to hear a great deal more from the public as word of the high-value reward continues to spread. source
