unwrapping:

Avatar Menu Change on Tumblr Dashboard:
Tumblr is gradually rolling out a change to the avatar menu on the desktop dashboard. Now when you place you cursor over an avatar, Tumblr reveals three sample posts and the username with blog title. There are also separate items for the “Ask a question/Send fan mail” drop-down menu and the follow/unfollow button.

Aug. 20, 2013 Update: This change also extends to any usernames (author and reblogger) in the upper left of the post.

You know, not to raise any concerns, but this looks an awful lot like what Tumby’s Chrome extension does. Here’s an example from the dashboard:

The plugin’s been around for a little bit—I posted about it a few weeks ago. While it’s not exactly the same, the approach is pretty similar.

Unpopular opinion: I actually like the Tumblr dashboard redesign. It’s clean and adds a lot of functionality that was missing. (I can now hit a key command to insert a link. That’s huge.) — Ernie @ SFB

Tumblr’s getting a dashboard redesign today, which will allow people to post straight from the dashboard rather than a separate interface. You know, like Twitter. ”Now you’re making posts the same way you’re reading them,” the company says. Thoughts?

Idiotic and ugly and unnecessary. this isn’t twitter

So missing e fix?

Ew.
Why is it that they keep changing things that don’t need to be changed? Nothing’s broken here, why try to ‘fix’ it?

……i doubt this is real….

The first stage of the Kübler-Ross model is denial. Also, this article links to TechCrunch, so it’s pretty real. This post is getting a lot of very disappointed reblogs by the way.
Anyone get this yet? What are your thoughts?
