It’s nice to see some people have a sense of humor, to say nothing of respect for the workers who serve them. Having worked for tips before, here’s a good rule of thumb: if you’re going to tip well, then your casual humor is richly appreciated. If not, a little snark comes off less casual than it does as overt, unnecessary antagonism.

Think you’re a great tipper? Check out this receipt, courtesy of the Angus Barn restaurant in Raleigh, NC, from former-Indianapolis Colt quarterback Peyton Manning’s last trip to the establishment. There’s no word on how big of a group ran up that $740 tab, but we’d probably have kept our waiting job if $300+ tips (including the added gratuity) were the norm! What about you?
