The Legend of Ron Burgundy came to life this week when Australia TODAY host Karl Stefanovic channeled his inner-Veronica Corningstone with a last-minute change to the teleprompter lines of guest-host Roz Kelly. We don’t know about you guys, but we’d probably do this to our coworkers every single day if we worked on a televised news broadcast of any kind. Then again, that might be why we don’t work on a televised news broadcast of any kind. (ht to Gawker) source
We simply cannot provide the type of quality sports, news and entertainment content that we do from an ad-supported-only business model. We have no choice but to develop business solutions that ensure we continue to remain in the driver’s seat of our own destiny. One option could be converting the Fox broadcast network to a pay channel, which we would do in collaboration with both our content partners and affiliates.Fox head Chase Carey • On the possibility that Fox would become a cable channel if the company loses the Aereo lawsuit. You read that right. This is so serious for them that they’d move the channel to cable.
The Bow Tie Is Back: After a few years of serving as an occasional Fox News contributor, the network has revealed that Tucker Carlson and his trademark bow tie (not pictured) will be joining the Fox & Friends weekend line-up. Carlson is perhaps best known for his time on CNN’s Crossfire, for his time on MSNBC, and as founder of The Daily Caller. (Which has been in the news lately, BTW.) He’ll replace Dave Briggs, who left the show in February to co-host The Crossover with Beadle and Briggs for the NBC Sports Network. (Photo via Gage Skidmore)
Why would they go crazy over waterboarding, but ignore the drone strikes … because they’re protecting the president.Bill O’Reilly • Explaining why he thinks NBC is ignoring the drone strike memo leak—you know, the one exclusively obtained by NBC News’ Michael Isikoff—while responsible networks like Fox News discuss it at every opportunity, It’s unclear how O’Reilly and his staff were unaware that NBC broke the story, or that Isikoff made appearances on numerous NBC and MSNBC broadcasts this week, but the O’Reilly Factor host is expected to discuss his mistake on Thursday night’s broadcast. Anybody think he’ll apologize? source
Guess Who’s Back: KMPH tracked down Kai, the hatchet-wielding hitchhiker who single-handedly saved a few lives last weekend, to find out what the newest internet sensation thinks of his sudden fame. You’ll be happy to know that very little has changed since Kai first appeared on many people’s radar a few days ago. source
This is either the greatest or worst television interview that we’ve ever seen. An argument could probably be made for both. More importantly, while the victim described in Kai’s story was hospitalized, he is expected to make a full recovery. He’s also choosing to remain unidentified at this time. Thankfully, Kai didn’t make the same choice. (Note: NSFW language, but OMG … just watch it.) source
Update: Despite our earlier claim that the victim only sustained a broken leg, he actually needed surgery for a total of nine injuries. He is still expected to make a full recovery though. — Scott @ SFB
Former Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich has signed on as a regular contributor to Fox News Channel.
The former Ohio congressman unsuccessfully ran for president in 2004 and 2008, and recently ended his congressional career. Fox said Wednesday that Kucinich will make his debut in his new role on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Thursday night.
We don’t know about you guys, but we definitely didn’t see this coming. Think adding Kucinich as a regulator contributor will do anything to change Fox News’ pro-Republican reputation?
Congratulations are in order for one Mr. Jake Tapper, former senior White House Correspondent for ABC News, who was just hired as the newest anchor and Chief Washington Correspondent for CNN. There’s no mention of the show that Tapper will presumably helm, but CNN did say the network “[looks] forward to developing a program that takes advantage of all of his strengths, his passion and his knowledge of national issues and events.” (Photo via ABC News) source
Talk show host Stephen Colbert is South Carolina voters’ preferred candidate to replace Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), according to a new poll by the Democratic Public Policy Polling.
The Comedy Central host, who’s openly lobbied for the seat, leads a field where the rest of the names are Republicans: 20 percent of voters want South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) to appoint him to DeMint’s seat when the senator resigns from Congress.
Some of the other names that Colbert was up against include Rep. Trey Gowdy (14%), former South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford (11%), former South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster (8%) and former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (8%). Don’t get us wrong. We know that Stephen has a snowball’s chance in hell of actually being tapped by Gov. Haley. This certainly won’t do anything to end rumors that the comedian is considering a run for the Senate seat in 2014 though.

Lecture Night in America: Following the murder-suicide allegedly carried out by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Javon Belcher on Saturday, Bob Costas ruffled a few feathers when he decided to offer his own opinion on the need for better gun control during halftime of the Eagles/Cowboys game last night. Think he could/should have chosen a better venue for this?
WTF Of the Day: So…this happened. It takes a lot to make Russell Brand look eloquent, but this duo just makes it look easy. source
