producermatthew:

I’m excited to announce that, less than 24 hours after accepting a freelance position with BreakingNews.com, I have accepted a full-time employment offer with KGO-TV, the ABC owned-and-operated station in San Francisco, California.
I’m thrilled to be joining a team of incredibly smart people who are creating outstanding news products at a company with a legacy in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m also excited to be a part of a news operation backed by the amazing talents and resources of ABC News and the Walt Disney Company.
My period of unemployment has not been uneventful: I’ve covered the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords in January, the Arab revolution in February, the Great Tohoku earthquake in March, the Southwest Airlines Flight 812 incident in April and the death of Osama bin Laden in May.
KGO understands that I’ve spent these past few months building a powerful brand that people have come to associate with breaking news and exclusive scoops. I would not have accepted a job at a news organization that would not allow me to continue writing, tweeting, and aggregating content from every corner of the web. The folks at KGO not only understands this, but they embrace it — so rest assured, I’ll still be aggregating, tweeting and Tumbling, along with producing great content for their website, ABC7News.com, their social media platforms, and their television show 7Live.
I’ve made so many incredible contacts, colleagues and friends both in this industry and in others during my period of unemployment, and I’m incredibly grateful for their love, encouragement and support.
My first day at KGO is Wednesday, May 25th.

This is amazing news for pretty much the hardest-working unemployed person we’ve ever seen. We can’t imagine what he’s about to do now that he’s getting a paycheck. :) High-fives all around from the SFB staff.

1000 reblogs = $10
10000 reblogs = $100 .. and so on
Okay, we know, we know, it’s shameless self promotion. We will be using the increased traffic from our website to fund this donation. We will be sending Red Cross the check for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.
UPDATE: We forgot to add what we’d do if someone were to “like” the post. We will combine the reblogs and likes we got from our last post along with the reblogs and likes we get from this post.
We wish we can donate more, but it’s all we can handle. If you would like to donate directly to the cause, please click here.
We will be donating 1 cent per every reblog, 1 cent for every like and 5 cents per every new follower we get. We’ll be sending the check to American Red Cross.
Email us at what@viaSQUARED.com for any questions regarding this.
EDIT! Hopefully this will get enough notes, but if it gets too many, we’d have to stop it at 50000!

In regards to our earlier post about Red Cross reblog schemes, this appears legit but extremely unsavory. Shameless self-promotion? Not fans. Not fans at all. This is Kenneth Cole territory to us. (Note that we did not reblog this.)
