Dick Clark faced significant health issues in later years

More details on what happened before he died: CBS reports that former “American Bandstand” host and TV impresario Dick Clark passed away at Saint John’s hospital in Santa Monica, California, only 24 hours after being admitted for an unspecified outpatient procedure. Clark, who had a history of heart disease and type 2 diabetes, famously had to back out of the 2004 New Years Rockin’ Eve special after suffering from a stroke. Regis Philbin filled in that year, but Clark returned alongside new co-host Ryan Seacrest in 2005. In recent years, Clark was frail, often taking a smaller role in the shows, but always taking part in the final countdown to midnight. source

Dick Clark owned a Flintstones-inspired home, which he put on the market just weeks before he died for $3.5 million. This just goes to show how how awesome he really was.
