Beer “Science”: We’re pretty sure we won’t be the only ones to look at this chart and think “Hey, that’s a load of crap!” That being said, considering its based on responses from previous political surveys, we can’t exactly say it has zero basis in reality. So where does the National Journal think you fall on the political spectrum, how accurate are they, or did they leave your favorite brew out entirely? source

Newton to the rescue: Embattled Missouri Senate Candidate Todd “Legitimate Rape" Akin may have been abandoned by the Republican establishment, but he’s not entirely without friends: Akin is getting an assist from failed presidential candidate and "Definer of Civilization" Newt Gingrich, who will be attending a $500-a-plate fundraiser for Akin’s candidacy this Monday (Photo credit: AP). source

More on Mitt Romney’s “47 percent”

corysblog says: I really don’t see anything non-factual about this video. Everyone paying attention knows that the country’s vote is split pretty much half and half, but was Romney wrong for stating that fact? Isn’t it true that 47 percent of Americans people don’t pay income taxes and are more inclined vote for the President? If this video sinks Romney’s chance at the Presidency it will be because of the spin placed on it and not the actual content.

» Dave Weigel says: ”Romney is conflating the people who pay no net income tax with the people so dependent on government aid that they have to vote for Obama. But these aren’t the same people! Most of the ‘lucky duckies,’ to use the classic WSJ term, are old people who subsist on Social Security. Elderly voters broke big for Republicans in 2010. Scores of poor whites who benefit from the Earned Income Tax Credit vote for Republicans.” — Ernie @ SFB

Joe flirted with the idea of running against Barack Obama. An ex–Florida congressman and a moderate Republican, he conferred with fellow centrists just before the primaries, occasionally shuttling around with his friend Mike Bloomberg. (From time to time, Mika’s father, Zbigniew, Jimmy Carter’s national-security adviser, weighed in with sage advice, as did a handful of George W. alumni.)

Joe could be a good choice. He’s a smart dude and knows a thing or two about reaching out to the other side — something the Republican Party (or even independent voters) might need if Romney loses in November.

In an electoral season marked by high levels of polarization, Republicans being vocal about their disdain for President Obama is beyond a norm — it’s fundamental to a broad campaign strategy. But, as go constituency attitudes, so must go the officials who’re seeking their votes. This is very evident in Massachusetts, where GOP Senator Scott Brown, fending off a challenge from Democrat Elizabeth Warren, is slated to run an ad today touting President Obama’s praise of Brown’s support of a bill against congressional insider trading. The predictable reason — Obama’s positive approval ratings in Massachusetts, and the centrist votes a Republican needs to win the traditionally blue state. (Photo by American Solutions) source

President Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people. Romney and Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that’s what everybody needs to know. I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle.
Clint Eastwood • Reacting to the negative reaction (particularly from the left) his RNC speech drew. Eastwood spoke to his tiny local paper, the Carmel Pine Cone, in the first interview he gave since the speech. (Eastwood was once mayor of Carmel, Calif.) Regarding how Eastwood got away with such a strange speech, he made this claim: “They vett most of the people, but I told them, ‘You can’t do that with me, because I don’t know what I’m going to say.’” Turns out it involved talking to a chair.
