Director Petraeus feels very privileged to be able to continue to serve our country in his current position, and as he has stated clearly numerous times before, he will not seek elected office.
CIA Spokesman Preston Golson • Trying to tamp down the the rumor of the day — that his boss, CIA director David Petraeus, may be sought by the Romney campaign as a VP candidate. Petraeus has been resolute in past answers regarding a turn to elected office, insisting he has no intentions to do so. If Petraeus did end up as Romney’s running-mate, though, he’d have a recent resume similar to a past, winning vice president; George H.W.
