So, because this Swedish dude is clever or something, he painted a photorealistic picture of himself and submitted it as his driver’s license photo. It was accepted.

Behold the “Empowered Man,” the latest entry in a series of paintings by conservative artist Jon McNaughton. McNaughton has painted similar scenes to this one before – he has a whole set of anti-Obama paintings (such as this one, in which he sternly torches the constitution), in addition to a couple that advocates of church/state separation might find a bit irksome. Of particular note, in addition to the fact that McNaughton does quite well by these works (he expects to rake in between $50,000 and $100,000 for the above canvas), guess who his “most prominent” patron is? If you guessed Fox News host Sean Hannity, well, you’re right. Though that really was too easy.

Looking to spend $3,999 on a painting of recently-deceased hellraiser Andrew Breitbart in a coat of armor? May want to rethink that decision, based on this allegation that the armor is actually copied from an Assassin’s Creed video game. (So in other words, this story, in reverse.) Oops.

ordinarymachines asks: … Why are you tumbling this, exactly?

chipuni asks: With all due respect, why are you giving this nutcase more exposure?

» SFB says: The same reason the source of the image, Buzzfeed, posted it: Because it was interesting that someone went to such detail to draw such a weird, incendiary image. Personally, I think it’s a bit of a talker because it was so bizarre. The site tends to post a lot of “talkers,” and that goes both ways politically. — Ernie @ SFB

Burning bank painting has 54 bids, and a price of $10,100 on eBay right now.

This painting has already gotten a bunch of media coverage and earned much notoriety for the artist. Alex Schaefer really captured the mood of the culture with a single painting.
