Danny has left the campaign. He did a remarkable job.
Anthony Weiner • Confirming the departure of his campaign manager, Danny Kedem, who left days after the NYC mayoral candidate once again found himself admitting to accusations of sexting. Weiner continues, but suffice it to say that even his closest confidantes don’t exactly have the highest level of confidence about his chances. Weiner already had issues with getting experienced staff members before the scandal hit. This seems to add to that.

Ed Koch, the iconic former New York City mayor who died Friday, has some of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl’s last words — “My father is Jewish. My mother is Jewish. I am Jewish.” — on his tombstone. Koch explained his reasoning for doing this in a 2011 blog post for The Huffington Post: “I believe those words should be part of the annual services on the Jewish High Holiday of Yom Kippur, and should be repeated by the congregants.”
Pearl was brutally murdered by al-Qaeda terrorists after being kidnapped in Pakistan in 2002, with his death videotaped and used as a propaganda tool. He died on February 1, 2002, eleven years ago exactly — making Koch’s usage of Pearl’s words symbolic in another way.

Look who’s considering a comeback? Anthony Weiner might be ready for a second chance. He’s toyed with the idea of running for NYC mayor before, but chose not to last time around, due to well-funded Michael Bloomberg pushing for a third term. Weiner, a longtime Congressman, resigned last year amid an infamous sexting scandal.

What’s your campaign slogan for Alec Baldwin?

No slogans, but that is an embarrassing cutout of Baldwin. His. Fingers. Glow. :(

Michael Bloomberg: Possibly a coder? Depends on how his resolution goes.

  • cool Codecademy wants to encourage people to learn how to program, and they did so by creating a game-based platform that encourages reward-based learning.
  • cooler In a spark of genius and a great kick in the pants, the company created a New Year’s resolution idea called #Codeyear, which allows users to resolve to code in 2012.
  • coolest El Bloombito himself — NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg — revealed he plans to take part. Sounds like someone’s going to learn a new language: Ruby. source

New York City is the city where you can come and express yourself. What was happening in Zuccotti Park was not that.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg • Offering a tough take on Occupy Wall Street this morning, after a long night in which police randomly showed up at the encampment’s door and gave protesters 20 minutes to vacate. The mayor seemed to imply with his statement that safety concerns trumped First Amendment concerns, which is perhaps a dangerous take on the law. source (viafollow)
