If tax cuts create jobs, why didn’t the Bush tax cuts work?On-point question by the National Journal’s Beth Reinhard. Newt blamed the timing for its failure to work. (Reposting because it’s a good quote and Tumblr’s acting weird tonight.)
I get 60 seconds; that was 30.Mitt Romney, reacting when Scott Pelley told Romney he was out of time. Romney was correct. “I stand corrected; please continue,” Pelley said, to cheers.
Coming soon: CBS News’ presidential debate, with some help from the National Journal. We’ll be doing some light liveblogging, but as we noted earlier, this will be a more casual affair than our usual cover-every-angle affair. We’re curious about two things tonight: 1) If Newt Gingrich will prove his growing clout and 2) if Jon Huntsman will shine considering the topic is so near and dear to his heart. Let’s see what happens, all. If you’d like to follow along, the tag we’re using is #scdebate. The video feed is over this way.
EDIT: Pantsless Progressive will also be on the liveblogging tip this evening.
Due in part to the fact it’s happening over the weekend, our coverage of said debate — a CBS News/National Journal joint taking place in South Carolina and focused on Jon Huntsman’s strong point, foreign policy — will be lighter than most of our normal debates. We’ll probably have an occasional check-in to keep you posted, but we’ll leave the heavier coverage to a time when the debate isn’t competing against “Cops” for ratings. If something crazy happens, we’ll let you know. Whatever we do post will head under the #SCdebate tag.
