If you were playing Super Mario Bros. 3 wearing Google Glass, it’d look like this. (ht Verge, which knows a thing or two about Google Glass)

We don’t know about all of you fleshy readers but, if robots had an “inner child”, ours would undoubtedly have short-circuited trying to process all of this awesome. College football fan or not, anyone that loves classic video games should take a few minutes to watch this performance.

Introducing: Super Modern Mario Bros! One die-hard fan of everyone’s favorite Italian plumber created video depicting what he thought SMB’s trailer might look like if the game was making it’s debut at E3 2012 (For more visions of what a modern-day Super Mario Brothers might look like, see here and here).  source

Appears that Mario/Portal mashup we wrote about a long time ago, Mari0, is moving right along. (There were some great animated GIFs on that page we wanted to post instead, but Tumblr didn’t want to.)

Currently going viral: This awesome scan-in, from a library and written in Japanese, which describes exactly how Super Mario Bros. 3 was made. According to the book, the cartridges and (in Japan) disks were all produced by hand, copied manually, which sounds like an insane amount of work. (The site’s been going up and down; if it doesn’t work, here’s a cached version.)

So, Mario pulls a suit out of his closet that he hasn’t worn in over 20 years, and all of a sudden PETA thinks it’s worthy of making a bloody video game parody (not safe for stomach) over? Really? What, is the style police going to go after Kuribo’s Shoe next?
