Appears that Mario/Portal mashup we wrote about a long time ago, Mari0, is moving right along. (There were some great animated GIFs on that page we wanted to post instead, but Tumblr didn’t want to.)
Currently going viral: This awesome scan-in, from a library and written in Japanese, which describes exactly how Super Mario Bros. 3 was made. According to the book, the cartridges and (in Japan) disks were all produced by hand, copied manually, which sounds like an insane amount of work. (The site’s been going up and down; if it doesn’t work, here’s a cached version.)
So, Mario pulls a suit out of his closet that he hasn’t worn in over 20 years, and all of a sudden PETA thinks it’s worthy of making a bloody video game parody (not safe for stomach) over? Really? What, is the style police going to go after Kuribo’s Shoe next?
