Thatcher will only be fondly remembered by sentimentalists who did not suffer under her leadership, but the majority of British working people have forgotten her already, and the people of Argentina will be celebrating her death. As a matter of recorded fact, Thatcher was a terror without an atom of humanity.
Morrissey is a total Margaret Thatcher fan.

Just 20 years-old. So sad.

She may have revolutionized world politics, but she did not make it so that pre-packaged obits automatically update themselves.

Rupert Murdoch denies influencing UK politicians: The News Corp. leader, who has had a close personal relationship with a number of British prime ministers, denied undue influence on them. Murdoch spoke in front of an inquiry Wednesday tied to the company’s phone-hacking scandal.  “It is only natural for politicians to reach out to editors and sometimes proprietors if they’re available to explain what they’redoing and hoping it makes an impression,” Murdoch said. Since 1988, Murdoch has met with the various prime ministers 75 times — 31 for Tony Blair alone.

Three British prime ministers’ cozy relationships with Rupert Murdoch

  • Thatcher After a meeting with Murdoch at her country retreat, Thatcher gave an easy approval to the media mogul’s bid for The Times of London, setting the stage for his growing influence.
  • Blair Tony Blair’s relationship with Murdoch became so cozy that Blair is the godfather of one of Murdoch’s children. One of Rupert’s top execs, Rebekah Brooks, was a frequent guest of Blair’s.
  • Cameron David Cameron, the current prime minister, made Andy Coulson, a former Murdoch aide, a top aide of his. Cameron and his wife also used to ride Rupe’s horses before the scandal. source

» But what don’t we know? Rupe’s going to testify: Murdoch, who has seen his considerable British political influence fall since the hacking scandal broke, now plans to return to the UK to testify on his political influence over the years. Last time he did this, Wendy Deng kicked some guy’s pie-throwing butt.

I hope that people will go to the polls and forget all the media people that say this one can’t go on or that one doesn’t have the money, because this is the process, and if we don’t let the process happen — I just think it’s so unfair and I hope that people will vote their conscience.
Michele Bachmann • Offering a strong defense of letting people make up their own minds in Iowa. Bachmann is banking on such sentiment — she’s far behind her rivals in the polls and even longtime supporters, like Sarah Palin, are suggesting she quit the race. In related good timing, Bachmann dropped this line in reference to Margaret Thatcher, currently the subject of a Meryl Streep biopic: “My goal is to be America’s iron lady.” Would she make a good Iron Lady for the U.S.? Do Americans need one of those? source (viafollow)
