We have all suffered terrible loss in this tragedy.A statement from the family of Jennifer Hudson • Wrapping up an intense murder trial in which William Balfour, 31, was convicted on three counts of first-degree murder. Balfour was charged with shooting and killing the mother, brother and nephew of the Oscar-winning actress, and prosecutors argued he did so in a jealous rage over Hudson’s sister Julia, his estranged wife, seeing another man. Balfour’s defense team decried a lack of hard physical evidence in the case, but what the prosecution called “overwhelming circumstantial evidence” ruled the day. Saturday night, a short time after finding out about the death of his ex-wife, Whitney Houston. He performed despite the difficult situation. In other news, Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan (the latter of whom had her song “I’m Every Woman” famously covered by Houston) will perform a tribute to the late singer at tomorrow night’s Grammy awards.
