He didn’t run for president, but … the Indiana governor will be offering up some tough statements against Obama tonight as he makes the GOP’s official State of the Union response. Herman Cain will also offer a response for the Tea Party, and Occupy Wall Street will also make their own response. Here’s an excerpt from Daniel’s speech:
No feature of the Obama presidency has been sadder than its constant efforts to divide us, to curry favor with some Americans by castigating others. As in previous moments of national danger, we Americans are all in the same boat. If we drift, quarreling and paralyzed, over a Niagara of debt, we will all suffer, regardless of income, race, gender, or other category. If we fail to shift to a pro-jobs, pro-growth economic policy, there will never be enough public revenue to pay for our safety net, national security, or whatever size government we decide to have.

Seriously, Herman: If you plan to make another presidential run, make this guy your VP.
Sadder vote tally: The fact that Huntsman is behind Broken Image or the fact that Roemer is behind Herman Cain, despite the fact that Cain’s out of the race entirely? (30 percent of the votes so far, BTW)

That first one is exactly why, polls be damned, anything could happen today. Well, except the late-stage return of Herman Cain. Cain, by the way, says he hasn’t endorsed anyone yet, despite rumors that Newt Gingrich was atop his list.
You can’t have a debate without saying 999 in a debate.Michele Bachmann • Bringing up the ghost of Herman Cain again, mentioning her new “Win Win Win” plan in the process. Does she think that’s going to bring her back in the polls again?
Fox 5 Atlanta, which broke the Ginger White affair allegations that derailed Herman Cain’s campaign, now reports via Twitter that Cain will endorse Newt Gingrich, which is a huge kick in the pants for the former House speaker’s campaign.
recursiveselfimprovement asks: When Cain says "suspended", what exactly does he mean by that? Is that just a fancy way of saying "I am quitting the race this time around but mark my words next time this country will be mine" or is it actually "hey I'mma brb from the race for a bit"?
» SFB says: It leaves the door open for him to return if he so wants. On top of this, if he wants to keep his federal matching funds if he returns, this allows him to do so. But if he endorses someone, that might hurt his ability to return. — Ernie @ SFB

I AM NOT GOING TO BE SILENCED, AND I’M NOT GOING AWAYHerman Cain • Emphasizing that he will remain as a public figure, saying he would promote “The Cain Solution” from here on out, as a Plan B.
Herman Cain suspending presidential campaign: He describes it as “Plan B,” and a decision he came to because of family reasons. “I am at peace with my God,” he said. “I am at peace with my wife. And she is at peace with me. And I am at peace with my Family. And I am at peace with myself.” He won’t disappear as a public figure, though.
No word on how long this “suspension” will be. Remember, John McCain “suspended” his campaign briefly in 2008. But we’re guessing this is the end of Herman Cain’s presidential ambitions.
