That’s my Bush: Soon, we’ll have a third George Bush on the scene. George Prescott Garnica Bush, shown with his uncle George W. Bush, has raised $1.2 million as he plans to run for statewide office in Texas. (The current plan is that he’ll run for land commissioner next year, but hasn’t ruled out a more-high-profile run if the cards fall that way.) Some details on New George: You already know his dad, Jeb, but the Republican Party sees him as having appeal to Hispanic voters, as his mother, Columba Garnica Gallo, is from Mexico. He’s also been on the national stage before: As a child, he spoke at the 1988 and 1992 Republican National Conventions, and he campaigned for his uncle in 2000 and 2004, supporting the former president’s immigration policies. (Side note: His grandfather, George H.W. Bush, left the hospital today.)
Is there anything you can do? Yes, of course. Keep him and the family in your prayers. I am thinking heaven has not seen such a barrage of prayer intentions since ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’George H.W. Bush’s aide, Jean Becker • Offering a fairly snarky-sounding response to the outpouring of concern that the former president received after reports that he was admitted to an intensive care unit. According to Becker’s email to Bush’s family and friends, here’s what happened: “He is 88 years old, he had a terrible case of bronchitis which then triggered a series of complications, partially brought on by the fact that he also has a form of Parkinson’s disease.” Becker said in the message that if Bush were writing, he “would ask me to tell you to please put the harps back in the closet.” So in other words, thanks for your concern, but the 88-year-old former president will be OK for now. source
A spokesman says former President George H.W. Bush is in the intensive care unit at a Houston hospital.
Bush’s spokesman, Jim McGrath, said late Wednesday that the former president was admitted to the ICU on Sunday at Methodist Hospital, “following a series of setbacks including a persistent fever.”
McGrath says Bush is alert and conversing with medical staff, and that doctors are cautiously optimistic about his treatment.
That’s all they details they’re offering for now. Good luck as far as getting better, George.
