Trying to get over the flu? Skip the chicken soup and grab a pint of “influenza sorbet,” the bourbon-infused frozen treat from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams loaded with stuff designed to help clear your passages. And despite the name, it is not influenza-flavored. Though we’re sure the Maker’s Mark gives it a kick.

  • 19,000+ New Yorkers sickened by the flu this year, prompting Governor Andrew Cuomo to declare a state health emergency today. The emergency authorizes the state’s pharmacists, for the next thirty days, to administer flu shots to children as young as six months old, in contrast to eighteen months under normal circumstances. According the the CDC, there have been just over 28,000 cases of flu this season nationwide, and 20 children have died from the virus. source
