Tribeca Film Festival: Future blockbusters and small foreign flicks

The eclectic 12-day festival starts tomorrow: The festival has a “meaty menu of independent, foreign and documentary films” and it’s been described as eclectic by its programmers. It’s more affordable than other festivals and offers a wide variety of films. Above is the trailer for Judd Apatow’s “Newlyweds”; below are three other films for you to check out. And yes, “The Avengers” will also be playing.

• one “Unit 7”: “The four cops of Unit 7 have a tough mission: to eradicate the most dangerous trafficking network of the city of Seville before the opening of the 1992 Seville World Exhibition.”
• two “Turn Off The Lights”: “Bidding an emotional farewell to their fellow inmates, they exit to find their rejoicing families celebrating … with showers of tears, money, and dancing.”
• three”Booker’s Place: A Mississippi Story”: Waiter Booker Wright spoke openly in a 1965 Frank DeFelitta film on racism; this film looks at how it forever changed Wright’s life. source
