» The U.S. is making everyone look fatter: According to the study, published Monday in a British medical journal and researched by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Americans have a disproportionate amount of weight to the rest of the world. In fact, using numbers from the World Health Organization, the study noted that the average weight of people around the world is 137 pounds, but in North America it’s a much-huskier 178 pounds. In particular, Asia is a little on the svelte side, having 61 percent of the world’s population but just 13 percent of the weight caused by obesity. (edit to clarify; thanks BC)
