Brendan “Dan” McKown, a comedian and survivor of a 2005 Tacoma mall shooting, describes his efforts to reach out to the NRA and their ultimate denial. McKown is a gun supporter and attempted to stop the Tacoma mall shooter with his own firearm, but the NRA ignored him. Cenk says, “Maybe they think that you can’t [help their argument]. Like — ‘Well, here’s a guy who drew a gun, and now he’s in a wheel chair. Maybe that doesn’t make out case for us.’” McKown says, “But, see, I’m also a guy who drew a gun, who’s in a wheelchair, and who — aside from putting his gun away — wouldn’t change what I did in the event.”
Pretty great interview by Cenk and company. McKown clearly isn’t in the same political boat as them, but he’s straight-up about his life and situation. Props.
