  • +21 Chris Christie’s net popularity amongst Republicans. Respectable!
  • +29 Christie’s net popularity amongst Democrats. Even better! source

Remember the days just before the election, when Christie was saying all sorts of nice things about President Obama, and everyone thought that was really crazy for doing that? It doesn’t look so crazy anymore.

At the top of my list, I have to say that Gov. Christie throughout this process has been responsive. He’s been aggressive in making sure that the state got out in front of this incredible storm and I think the people of New Jersey recognize that he has put his heart and soul into making sure the people of New Jersey bounce back even stronger than before. So, I just want to thank him for his extraordinary leadership and partnership.
President Obama, returning the favor to Christie at a joint press conference today. Some have suggested that Christie is helping himself politically by embracing Obama, but that’s a dubious suggestion at best (just ask Charlie Crist). Regardless, it’s been heartening to watch this bromance emerge; here’s to hoping it sticks around after the storm is gone. source

Did I say on topic? Are you stupid? On topic, on topic. Next question.
Gov. Chris Christie • To a reporter who asked an “off-topic” question during a press conference. New Jersey Governor Christie held a press conference Saturday to speak about a major problem at a local water treatment plant. When a reporter asked a question about a different topic (regarding the state legislature), Christie sort of yelled at him. “Thank you all very much, and I’m sorry for the idiot over there. Take care,” Christie said to end the press conference as the aforementioned reporter tried to follow up his question. source (viafollow)

My friends, whether they be homosexual or not, know me, and they know that I’m not bigoted.
Chris Christie • Regarding his recent veto of a bill that would have legalized gay marriage in New Jersey. Politicians who oppose marriage equality use this defense a lot, because hey, it’s easy to speak on behalf of your unnamed gay friends and say that they’re cool with your anti-gay marriage views. Any of Christie’s gay friends care to come forward and confirm this? source (viafollow)

Gov. Romney’s speech yesterday was just the type of tone we need. While folks may not agree with what he said, that type of candor is what Americans expect from a serious presidential candidate today.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie • Offering a big wet kiss to Mitt Romney for his straight-talking approach to health care. Romney made the argument that the health care approach (which Obama based his national health-care plan upon) was the right one for his state — but not necessarily for the country. What’s weird is that Christie was one of the few to offer support to Mitt after the speech, which many on the right really didn’t like. Guess we know who Chris Christie is voting for in 2012. (Hint: Not himself.) source (viafollow)
