Lecture Night in America: Following the murder-suicide allegedly carried out by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Javon Belcher on Saturday, Bob Costas ruffled a few feathers when he decided to offer his own opinion on the need for better gun control during halftime of the Eagles/Cowboys game last night. Think he could/should have chosen a better venue for this?

I didn’t go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I’ve helped. There are many that I didn’t have — I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways.
Jerry Sandusky • In unaired footage from his interview with Bob Costas for NBC’s “Rock Center with Brian Williams”, which prosecutors may show to members of the jury in his child molestation trial.  Costas had questioned whether Sandusky fit the modus operandi of most pedophiles, considering his heavily-cited work with a number of youth throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Many believe Sandusky’s comments will be end any hopes he may have had for coming out of this ordeal without jail time. source (viafollow)

The New York Times scores an in-depth Jerry Sandusky interview
They talked to him for four hours over roughly two days. This is different from the Bob Costas interview a few weeks back, which was a phone interview done on the fly; this is more in depth. So why did he agree to it, knowing how poorly that one went? Well, he wanted an opportunity to explain his motives — which he says have been greatly misconstrued by prosecutors and the public at large. “They’ve taken everything that I ever did for any young person and twisted it to say that my motives were sexual or whatever,” he said. “I had kid after kid after kid who might say I was a father figure. And they just twisted that all.” In the interview, he confirmed that he gave children gifts — which prosecutors have painted as part of a confidence scheme — but tried to explain it was meant as positive reinforcement. He also claimed the his relationships with the alleged victims extended far beyond the dates of alleged sexual abuse. And though his world has fallen apart around him, he claims to confide in his dog Bo. Read it and see what you guys think.

Bob Mother Effing Costas for the win!

Costas asked very direct questions. And he’s done some good research with this story, noting how strange it is that, after he quit Penn State, he didn’t pursue other opportunities at major universities. He had an interview with Virginia; he removed himself from consideration. A good interview but a tough one to watch. Admit that some of the things Costas asked probably made viewers uncomfortable. But he didn’t hide from them. The fact that he didn’t makes the fact that Sandusky agreed to this interview seem all the more absurd.

How do you think that I feel about it? I feel horrible.
Jerry Sandusky • Discussing how he feels about the impact the child sexual abuse case has had on Penn State. “I obviously feel a part of all this,” he said. He later said, “No, I am not sexually attracted to young boys.”

Jerry Sandusky interview: He denys everything, claims the McQueary shower incident was “horseplay” and that the alleged victim was “sliding across the floor.” Bob Costas is asking direct questions and Sandusky is offering tough denials. Costas on the denials: If the allegations are false, “you are the unluckiest and most persecuted man that anyone has ever heard of.”

More on Jerry Sandusky interview: NBC News just threw up this tease ahead of the Jerry Sandusky interview airing tonight on “Rock Center.” He’s quoted as saying he showered with young boys, rough-housed with them, and touched their legs, but he says he’s innocent of sexual abuse.
