  • 69th Ricky Gervais hosted this show for the fourth time despite literally no one, including himself, believing that he would. Check out his opening monologue and you can spot the 70th Annual Golden Globes hosts sitting together and looking fabulous at 3:10. Ricky ended up using the F-word during the ceremony, but who can blame him?
  • 68th For his third time hosting, Ricky did a wonderful job. And then rumors started flying that he would be fired after his performance. “That’s ominous, isn’t it?” he asked OK! Magazine, when he hadn’t been asked to return for the 69th show yet. “So I probably won’t be here next year.”
  • 67th This marked the second time that Ricky hosted the award show; in 2008, the year before, the Golden Globes saw the worst ratings since 1995. This was probably because those Globes were pretty much cancelled due to the writers’ strike. So, this might be, technically, the first time we really saw Ricky host the awards.

» A new feminine touch: Next up? The leading ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are excited to host the 70th Annual Golden Globe awards. “They’re two of the funniest people in show business,” Globes’ executive producer Allen Shapiro said. In a statement, Ricky wished the two luck: “After failing three years in a row to make E! Channel’s Best Dressed list, I decided to hand over the reins. Let me know if you run out of Scientology gags.” Tina and Amy have been besties for over a decade, so this ceremony should be a treat to watch.source

Don’t work too hard on a tweet. When you see people trying to, for example, synthesize two current news stories into one ‘clever’ tweet, it can get pretty clunky and their labor is obvious, rendering their tweet unfunny.
Comedian Rob Delaney • Winner of the first “Funniest Person on Twitter” title from the Comedy Awards. The comedian, whose tweets include misdirections like “Isn’t it fun how many different shapes pasta can be? My wife left me last night,” was awarded this honor on Sunday on Comedy Central. Social media has certainly played an important role in the relationship between comedians and their fans lately; Amy Poehler, however, called Twitter a “mistake waiting to happen.” Is it worth it for comedians to rough the rocky seas of the Internet?  source (viafollow)

Will Jimmy Kimmel breathe new life into the Emmys?
Jane Lynch is out and late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is taking over as the host for this year’s Emmy Awards. The announcement came via a press release in which Kimmel said he hoped “to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars.” The host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” also joins fellow late-night comedians Jon Stewart and Conan O’Brien on the list of prior Emmy Award winners-turned-hosts. Think Kimmel will give the show a kick in the pants this year? (Photo by Chris Camargo) source
