Parody Website Fools The Washington Post Into Thinking Sarah Palin Heading To Al Jazeera

The Daily Currant is an evil site. Unlike The Onion, it’s just realistic-looking enough sometimes that it fools people. It hides the statement that it’s satire on a secondary page just to catch people like this.

It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement. She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.
Sarah Palin is leaving Fox News, guys. (ht @BuzzFeedAndrew)

Even Sarah Palin Thinks We Should Ignore Sarah Palin

In his surprisingly punchy speech at the Democratic convention Thursday night, Senator John Kerry delivered this zinger: “Folks, Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from Alaska. Mitt Romney talks like he’s only seen Russia by watching Rocky IV.”
Shortly thereafter on Fox News, Neil Cavuto asked Palin to respond. And it seems Palin is now in agreement with all the exasperated liberals who wish the political world would just ignore the former Alaska governor and onetime vice-presidential nominee:
PALIN: I think he diminished himself by even mentioning my name. How does he even know my name?

You want us to ignore you, Sarah? Deal. Right after this post …

Not Just Todd Akin: The 10 worst political gaffes of the past decade

Here’s the final entry in our weekly summer post series, “The Pitch.” (We’ll bring this back at some point, we promise!) This post, written and research by Matthew Keys, examines what we’re calling the ten most-prominent political gaffes of the last decade or so. Follow Matthew on Twitter here.

From zero to infamy in 30 seconds: Before last week, Missouri Senate candidate and current Rep. Todd Akin didn’t have a national profile. He looked like he might take down Claire McCaskill thanks in part to changing demographics in the state. But thanks to a half-minute comment on the nature of abortion, Akin is down as much as ten points in a recent poll. He felt the wrath of the gaffe. And he’s not alone. Gaffes have taken on a life of their own in modern political coverage. So with that in mind, SFB contributor Matthew Keys (who you might know from his epic Twitter account) has thrown together a list of the worst gaffes of the past ten years. Which is the worst? Find out after the jump.

The Pitch, Week 7: A bunch of Juggalos and a ton of Paul Ryan
Seventh-inning Pitch: We’re here to serve you, folks. We SFB writers really enjoy writing the longer stories that are most important to you. The Pitch is a chance for all of us to delve a little deeper. Head over to this week’s The Pitch album on Facebook and vote for what story you want to see written slightly more longform-y! Your choices: The media’s coverage of Sarah Palin in comparison to Paul Ryan; a crazy new sci-fi technology developed by Microsoft and the NYPD; the Insane Clown Posse’s insane lawsuit against the FBI; a closer look at Paul Ryan and what makes him so Paul Ryan-y; or what to do with yourself now that the Olympics are over. Oh yeah: Be sure to read last week’s winner, a close-up on Syria. source

On McCain’s VP pick in 2008, Dick Cheney’s face says it all

“That one, I don’t think was well handled,” said former vice president Dick Cheney about John McCain’s VP pick four years ago. He doesn’t think Sarah Palin passed the test of being “capable of being president of the United States.” He doesn’t think Palin fit that standard, and he doesn’t want Romney to make the same mistake.  source

Sarah Palin’s Facebook stalker: Here’s the photo of newly-retired Secret Service agent David Randall Chaney (one of the agents at the center of the Colombia prostitution scandal) with Sarah Palin which led him to write this on his Facebook page: “I was really checking her out, if you know what i mean?” Sometimes the jokes write themselves.
EDIT: Palin has responded, saying “I hope his wife kicks his o’coolie and sends him to the dog house.” Can’t make this stuff up.

I was really checking her out, if you know what i mean?
Just-retired Secret Service agent David Randall Chaney • Joking on his Facebook page about … wait for it … Sarah Palin, who he was protecting during the 2008 campaign. He left that comment on a photo that shows him keeping watch over the vice presidential candidate. Not exactly a good look for a guy who was forced to retire as a result of a scandal allegedly involving prostitutes in Colombia.

To answer your question, no, John McCain was not a fan of his portrayal in “Game Change,” and watched a Phoenix Coyotes game instead last night. “I don’t use coarse language very often,” McCain said of the HBO film. “I have a larger vocabulary than that.”

What Barack Obama seems to want to do is go back to before [the Civil War] when we were in different classes based on income, based on color of skin.
Sarah Palin • During a discussion, with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, on the “controversy” surrounding the recently released video of then-student Barack Obama publicly supporting embattled Harvard professor Derrick Bell. Professor Bell, the first tenured African-American professor of Law at Harvard and former dean of the University of Oregon School of Law, was widely considered the creator of Critical Race Theory (CRT). Many critics of CRT claim that Bell’s true intent was not equality, but to reverse the pre-Civil War societal roles of America. source (viafollow)
