  • 8:30 a.m. An “ecstatic” Josephine “Ann” Harris served President Barack Obama breakfast when his campaign stopped by her family restaurant, Ann’s Place.
  • 11:00 a.m. Harris, 70, was taken to a medical center after complaining of fatigue and a tinging feeling. She passed away shortly after, apparently of a heart attack.  source

» A huge Obama fan: The Akron, Ohio resident’s meeting with the president was highly anticipated by both her and her family, making the news of her death all the more sad. “I’m sure this was her highlight,” said Harris’ sister Frankie Adkins, upon hearing the news. “She loved Obama.” Our sincerest condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

  • then Earlier this month, a New York Times report claimed that the Stuxnet virus rampaging through the networks of Iranian nuclear facilities was co-created by the United States and Israel, and deployed under direct instruction from President Obama.
  • now Security analysts and Western officials say that portions of the code from Stuxnet also appears in the code for the Flame virus, confirming suspicions that the United States and Israel created the virus in an effort to hamper Iranian nuclear efforts. source

» The reports come less than 24 hours after news broke that six-nation negotiations with Iran, over the country’s nuclear ambitions, broke down yesterday. During the discussions, Iranian negotiator Saeed Jalili continually insisted that the international community lift sanctions and respect his country’s right to enrich uranium. “We had an intense and tough exchange of views,” said EU spokesman Michael Mann, “They responded to our package of proposals from Baghdad but, in doing so, brought up lots of questions.”

We agreed that we need to see a cessation of the violence, that a political process has to be created to prevent civil war.
President Barack Obama • Following a two-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin — the first since Putin’s return to the presidency — prior to the beginning of a G20 summit in Mexico.  The two discussed a wide range of issues that their respective nations have clashed over in the past, including missile defense systems in Europe and Iran’s nuclear ambitions, with Putin telling reporters that, “From my perspective, we’ve been able to find many commonalities pertaining to all of those issues.” source (viafollow)

What about American workers who are unemployed by immigrant farmers?
The Daily Caller reporter Neil MunroInterrupting President Obama while the president was making a speech about his new immigration policy, which allows for work visas for undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. at a young age. Because clearly this was a Q&A, not a speech. In related news, The Daily Caller won an Edward R. Murrow award for writing earlier this week, according to Munro’s most recent tweet.

  • Obama Back in March, journalists and free speech advocates were up in arms after President Obama had reporters escorted out of the room prior to accepting questions from attendees of the Business Roundtable at the Newseum in Washington, DC.
  • Romney Last night, following a 28-minute speech given to executive attendees of the Business Roundtable at the Newseum, Mitt Romney’s campaign did the same thing. The Newseum, BTW, has a 74-foot-tall First Amendment tablet on the building’s exterior. source

Don Rickles’ Obama joke cut from TV broadcast of Shirley MacLaine tribute
TV Land has announced that a controversial joke, told by legendary insult comic Don Rickles, will not appear during the television broadcast of the American Film Institute’s tribute to Shirley MacLaine. “President Obama is a personal friend of mine,” said Rickles, adding, “He was over to the house yesterday, but the mop broke.” (EDIT because some didn’t get the joke: Rickles is implying that Obama is his janitor, which has racial connotations.) While Rickles’ spokesman, as well as fellow comedian Jim Norton, were quick to defend the 86-year-old comedian, many others are happy to hear that the joke won’t make it on-air. So, what do you think? Did TV Land make the right call? (Photo by Gary Dunaier) source

  • $20,000 Obama transcript bounty source

» So what does The Trenches hope to prove? According to an updated press release, based on the current state of the economy, the people behind The Trenches (the conservative website behind the bounty) aren’t convinced that Barack Obama was as good a student as he’s claimed. “You’ve had over three years to vet President Barack Obama. Yet in three years in office…you have either been oddly uninterested or purposefully ignorant of Barack Obama’s educational history,” reads the site, adding, “You were, however, quite interested in George Bush’s transcripts.”

For the first time in nine years Americans are not fighting and dying in Iraq. We are winding down the war in Afghanistan…after a decade under the dark cloud of war, we can see the light of a new day on the horizon.
President Barack Obama • During a speech given at Arlington National Cemetery this morning, honoring America’s current, former, and fallen soldiers on Memorial Day. While noting that the end of the wars meant an end to this chapter of many citizens’ lives, he also noted that the families of those who lost loved ones will long be affected. “As long as I am president we will make sure you and your loved ones will receive the benefits you have earned and the respect you deserve,” said the President, adding, “America will be there for you.” source (viafollow)

Colin Powell still hasn’t endorsed a candidate for president
Powell not ready to “throw my weight” behind anyone: Former Secretary of State Colin Powell is making a trip around the media circuit to promote his latest book, but all people want to ask him about is who he’ll support in the upcoming election. Maybe he’d make this announcement on a morning talk show, right? Wrong. He did offer a mixed review of President Obama’s first term in office, listing Guantanamo Bay as a failure and the more stable economy as a success. Powell endorsed Obama in 2008. source

Joe Ricketts is a registered independent, a fiscal conservative, and an outspoken critic of the Obama administration, but he is neither the author nor the funder of the so-called ‘Ricketts Plan’.
TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts • In a statement, released via End Spending Action Fund President Brian Baker, denying allegations he intended to implement the “Ricketts Plan” unveiled by the New York Times on Thursday. The plan called for a renewed attack on President Obama’s prior-association with the highly controversial Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Presumed Republican nominee Mitt Romney distanced himself from the ads, and campaign manager Matt Rhoades told reporters, “It’s clear President Obama’s team is running a campaign of character assassination. We repudiate any efforts on our side to do so.” source (viafollow)

One Step Back: Just hours after President Obama voiced his support of same-sex marriage, the House Armed Services committee approved a measure that would ban gay marriage ceremonies on U.S. military bases. The measure was approved late on Wednesday, The Hill reports. The measure was included in the committee’s defense authorization bill for 2013, which now goes to the Republican-led House of Representatives for approval.
