There’s some extreme material. On a scale of 1 to 10, where youporn.com is a 5, some of the content on Tumblr would reach 9 and possibly 10. We’ve actually reported some Tumblr domains to The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children. By illegal, I’m referring to the blacklist of keywords that’s shared among Industry stake holders that partner with organizations such as The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children in the US and the IWF in the UK, to help identify and block websites that contain images or videos of children being raped and abused.
Paul Walsh, the founder of the content-blocking app MetaCertRaising concerns about of Tumblr’s porn problem, which he says is more serious than many users might believe and could be fought with a more aggressive labeling system. “Let me emphasize that I am not advocating censorship,” he writes. “Tumblr wouldn’t prohibit anyone’s freedom of speech by better labeling content. It would simply make it easier for parental controls to identify adult websites to help people avoid the content they would rather not see.”

Democracy In (NSFW) Action: Naked protesters gathered inside of Speaker of the House John Boehner’s office today to voice their displeasure with potential “fiscal cliff” budget cuts that could target HIV/AIDS-funding. To our knowledge, Speaker Boehner has not commented on the incident at this time. Our hats off to the recently rebooted Digg for finding this one. source
