  • $232M in profits were generated by Minecraft last year, but Mojang’s founders aren’t looking to go public any time soon according to a new Reuters report. Apparently, despite Notch’s $100 million windfall, these guys want to keep doing what they love without having to answer to new bosses, a major publisher, or outside investors. You can officially consider us jealous.  source

We’ve been approached by a number of high-profile Hollywood producers and asked to do TV shows. We may do that.
Mojang CEO Carl Manneh • Discussing the potential for a Minecraft television adaptation, during an interview with the Financial Times. Minecraft has seen explosive growth since achieving 1.0 status late last year, adding 5 million new users just last month, and bringing the total number of client downloads to approximately 25 million. Elaborating on the television proposals, Manneh told the Times, “We have so much to focus on with just the game development and growing the business. But if the right idea comes along and the right people that we’d want to work with, we’d say why not?” source (viafollow)
