70+ votes for immigration reform in the Senate? That sounds rather crazy, but John McCain thinks “it’s doable.” There’s a feeling amongst some of the senators working on the legislation that if the bill gains majority support from both parties in the Senate, the House won’t have any choice but to put it to a vote. It was the sip heard round the world! Marco Rubio paused during his response to Obama’s State of the Union address to take a sip of water. The mainstream media, predictably, began mocking immediately. CNN even suggested to its viewers that Rubio’s might be “a career ender.”
The only person who hasn’t seemed bothered in the whole ordeal is Rubio himself. He immediately took to twitter to poke fun at himself, posting a photo of the infamous water bottle. The next day he started selling water bottles on his website.
Since Wednesday, Rubio has sold over $100,000 in water bottles!

When Marco Rubio paused to take a sip from a water bottle during his response to the State of the Union this week, it become an instant viral sensation. The Florida Senator has now capitalized on the moment to raise more than $100,000 for his Reclaim America political action committee by selling branded water bottles.
A source close to Rubio tells BuzzFeed that the water bottles, which were sold on the senator’s PAC website to anyone who mades a donation of $25 or more, sold like hotcakes. In the period since they went on sale Wednesday, more than 3,100 of the PAC’s “Marco Rubio Water Bottles” have been sold.
“Send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you…he hydrates you too,” the donation page reads.
Rubio is smart enough to know that if the best the left has on you is the fact that you go thirsty, you’re in pretty good shape!
Plant a seed, water the plants, watch the plant grow.
In fairness to Mr. Rubio, what he’s saying isn’t any different from what everyone else in his party is saying. But that, of course, is what’s so scary.
For here we are, more than five years into the worst economic slump since the Great Depression, and one of our two great political parties has seen its economic doctrine crash and burn twice: first in the run-up to crisis, then again in the aftermath. Yet that party has learned nothing; it apparently believes that all will be well if it just keeps repeating the old slogans, but louder.
It’s a disturbing picture, and one that bodes ill for our nation’s future.

A look at some of the claims in his State of the Union speech, a glance at the Republican counterargument and how they fit with the facts:
OBAMA: “After years of grueling recession, our businesses have created over 6 million new jobs.”
THE FACTS: That’s in the ballpark, as far as it goes. But Obama starts his count not when he took office, but from the point in his first term when job losses were the highest. In doing so, he ignores the 5 million or so jobs that were lost on his watch, up to that point.
The wire service also examined Sen. Marco Rubio’s televised response on behalf of the Republican Party, and takes both men to task for some less-than-accurate statements during the State of the Union and GOP response on Tuesday night.
“I mean I needed water, what am I going to do,” Rubio said on NBC’s Good Morning America, after again ducking away from the camera to reach for his water bottle. “God has a funny way of reminding us that we’re human.”
Tuesday night as he delivered the live GOP response, the Florida senator seemed nervous and awkwardly paused at one point to grab an off-camera bottle of water and take a sip.
Rubio told CBS’s “This Morning that” he wasn’t nervous, but had “already taped an eighteen-minute speech in Spanish” after a long day at work, and “when you talk a lot, it happens.” Rubio on Wednesday sought to return attention to the president’s policies, continuing to jab at Obama’s address.

Rubio was supposed to make a speech on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa at a rally for Romney; his plane in Albuquerque had some kind of electrical problem.
