Authorities fear that notorious drug cartel Los Zetas and the infamous Mara Salvatrucha street-gang have joined forces to create a criminal empire that stretches from Mexico’s northern border to Guatemalan’s southern border. Mara Salvatrucha, most commonly known as MS-13 by U.S. citizens, members have reportedly been trained by the Zetas at camps throughout Mexico, and are also receiving weapons from the cartel. Authorities say they have recorded conversations among inmates that confirm the truce, and point to the Maras’ increased use of military-grade weapons, instead of handguns, in Guatemala as proof that the two groups are cooperating. Anonymous threatens to release the names of officials, taxi drivers and police officers who have allowed the Zetas to have a run of the region. “We demand his release,” said an Anonymous representative. “We want the army and the navy to know that we are fed up with the criminal group Zetas, who have concentrated on kidnapping, stealing and blackmailing in different ways.” The date is symbolic — it’s Guy Fawkes Day; the representative, speaking in a YouTube video, was wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. Darrell Issa • Asking on “Fox News Sunday” why Attorney General Eric Holder gave Issa, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman, a seemingly false answer on his knowledge of Operation Fast and Furious, a failed gun-tracking program. The program has since been tied to numerous murders in the U.S. and Mexico — and the results of which are still showing up in the hands of Mexican drug cartels. Issa wants answers. ”People at the top of (the) Justice (Department) were well briefed, knew about it and seemed to be the command and control and funding for this program,” he claimed. Holder told him during a May Judiciary Committee hearing that he had only known about the program for a few weeks — an answer which doesn’t please Issa, and may lead to him issuing subpoenas to the Justice Department later this week. source (via • follow)
