The Inside Story on the Making of Nintendo’s Wii U
Judging by the lines at Nintendo’s E3 booth, Nintendo’s Wii U is a hit, but the system could have been a lot different if Nintendo had listened to its inner demons.  Global President Satoru Iwata says the idea of a two-screen, video game system was something the company went back and forth on—and didn’t finalize until nearly a year and a half into the development process.
Work on the Wii U began in 2008—one year after the Wii hit retail shelves and began to take over the videogame industry. But there was much internal debate before the schematics were finalized.

Hardcore gamers tend not to like gimmicky approaches like the original Wii or the Wii U, especially when the entire console is built around it, but think Nintendo has a hit on their hands here?

Rumors are swirling of an Apple event to be held in either San Francisco or New York next week. Sources have told various news organizations that the event will be the launch of the iPad 3. [Photo: CNBC]

CNBC’s sources appear not to be that awful if they got a hold of this.

Waiting for further confirmation, but one thing that’s interesting about this announcement is that it’s pretty rare for them to have a product launch in NYC. It’s kind of a major change for the company if that’s true.

EDIT: Hearing two things; first, the quad-core thing might be bunk, and second, CNBC may be wrong about the NYC thing. Both of those appear to be somewhat speculative, though. We’re waiting for more solid ground on this.

I think we ought to be personally responsible.
Bill Murray • Speaking during an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” The actor made clear that he believed we should all help ourselves and any others we can. Saying that many people forget America is a “pioneer country”, Murray stopped short of condemning the social safety net; however, he did say that “we’ve sort of gotten used to someone looking out for us”, though we apparently shouldn’t, because some people are simply  “compost for the whole planet.” The interview left many wondering, is Bill Murray a closet Libertarian? source (viafollow)

CNBC reportedly will start streaming the debate starting at 8pm over here, but as you can see the most exciting thing happening right now is the default Windows XP screensaver.

Two of the fundamental attributes of good journalism are curiosity and a respect for the people on whom you report. Burnett got an “F” on both those counts with her Occupy Wall Street piece. Not only didn’t she listen hard enough to learn anything from the people in the group, she and her producers positioned the speakers to be seen as objects of derision. That is deplorable.

Not to be too cynical, but considering the cozy relationship that her former network had with Wall Street, did we really expect anything else?

I could end the deficit in 5 minutes. You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP all sitting members of congress are ineligible for reelection.
