Get rid of ObamaCare! Now! It’s a really good idea … if your plan is to do the exact opposite of what you’re trying to achieve on controlling the deficit. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday said ObamaCare will actually work to shrink, not enlarge, our fiscal budget headache.More details from the CBO here. Important story for truth. What’s more notable? The fact that the House of House of Representatives will initiate contempt proceedings against Eric Holder over Fast and Furious documents? Or the fact that a news outlet finally provided the correct pronunciation of John Boehner’s name? You be the judge. (Photo credit: AP). source
WOAH. House Speaker John Boehner made it clear at his weekly press conference today that he disagrees with President Obama on the issue of gay marriage, and he would not answer the question: Do you feel that gay marriage is a civil rights issue? When asked, Boehner responded: ”I believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and the president and the democrats can talk about all this all they want.” He added, “The fact is the American people are focused on our economy, and they’re asking the question: Where are the jobs?”

It’s like he’s pointing into our souls.
» Question: If Boehner goes ahead with this, will anybody, Democrat or Republican, have any reason to believe he’s negotiating in good faith next time a deal needs to be reached? Obstructionism is one thing, but to make an agreement, pass that agreement in the form of legislation, and then attempt to get out of that agreement when things don’t go your way is another. Make no mistake; the debt ceiling will have to be raised again; we’re not sure how negotiations can even commence, let alone conclude, if this is how Boehner plans to go about things.
Congress filling up with people now. Here are four spots to watch feeds — CNN, National Journal, Whitehouse.gov and ABC7 KGO. In this photo, John Boehner’s picking his nose.
They gave in. Come on. You could’ve easily kept this fight going for an entire week, Obama. Now you’re competing with the start of the NFL season. Do people give more of a crap about jobs or the fact that two teams of people who get overpaid for their work will entertain them for a couple of hours?
John Boehner is currently sending around this PowerPoint presentation. (h/t CitizenCohn)
Key line from Boehner’s speech:
The president is adamant that we cannot make fundamental changes to our entitlement programs. As the father of two daughters, I know these programs won’t be there for them and their kids unless significant action is taken now.
The sad truth is that the president wanted a blank check six months ago, and he wants a blank check today. That is just not going to happen.
BTW, if you guys don’t read the National Journal, you’re either missing out or don’t give a crap about DC insidery stuff like we do.
