Tampa high school student arrested in bomb plot
A 17-year-old student has been arrested on charges he plotted to set off explosives at Freedom High School.
Jared Michael Cano has been charged with threatening to throw, project, place or discharge a destructive device. Cano also faces additional charges of possession of bomb-making materials, cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Tampa police say they found a diary with minute-by-minute plans to carry out the plot, including a reference that he wanted to exceed the casualty count of the massacre at Columbine High School in Colorado.
Charming kid: According to his Facebook page, he likes “getting paid” and “smoking weed,” and he claimed he went to the ”University of Marijuana.”
