I couldn’t put my windows down unless I started my car, and when I started my car they began yelling to not move the car, not to start the car. They began trying to break the windows. My roommates and I were … terrified.20-year-old University of Virginia student Elizabeth Daly • Discussing the harrowing April incident she went through when a group of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents, dressed in plain clothes, walked up to her, believing she had carried a 12-pack of beer out of a grocery store. Not knowing who the people were, Daly and her roommates panicked, quickly driving away from the agents, who attempted to smash open her windows. When she finally realized who the agents were, she apologized—but that wasn’t enough, as she was held in jail overnight and charged with three felonies. The felonies were only dropped earlier this week, and Daly is still in shock over the whole incident. “This has been an extremely trying experience,” she wrote about the incident. “It is something to this day I cannot understand or believe has come to this point.” The kicker? She wasn’t holding beer. She was holding bottled water.
