I still have to get ready to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down, and do what I like doing best, killing people.A message in the suicide note left by William Spengler, the man who attacked a group of firemen in Webster, NY on Monday. Spengler, 67, was known in the area for brutally murdering his grandmother in 1980, and returned to the neighborhood after he was paroled in 1998. He had done little to draw attention to himself since then. Authorities now report that they found human remains in the home set ablaze by Spengler — a home he lived at with his sister — though the identity of any victims has been unconfirmed. Spengler’s ambush attack on the firemen that came to stop the blaze was a rarity, as firefighters and emergency workers rarely deal with gun violence on the job. The firefighters killed include the Webster Police Department’s 43-year-old public information officer, Lt. Michael Chiapperini, and 19-year-old 911 dispatcher Tomasz Kaczowka.
