CyanogenMod team begins rebranding campaign
Meet Cid, the new mascot for CyanogenMod, the mega-popular Android ROM. The team unveiled the new mascot as part of a rebranding campaign, of sorts, as the team rolls out some major changes with its upcoming distribution CyanogenMod 9. Based on the Android 4.0 kernel, CM9 will mark a departure from the team’s previous use of app-launcher ADW and the stock Music app in favor of internally developed replacements. The Verge also reports that there is talk of creating a Cyanogen App Store, which would offer apps not sellable on Google Play, as the team works towards creating a full-fledged OS of their own.
