Roy Dis­ney, who died of stom­ach can­cer at 79, was respon­si­ble for the revi­tal­ized focus on ani­ma­tion seen in such mod­ern clas­sics as “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lit­tle Mer­maid,” and “Aladdin.” On the down­side, the com­pany even­tu­ally pulled away from this focus as the hits stopped com­ing, but they real­ized the error of their ways.
