Chatter: In Massachusetts, being gay and Republican a non-issue

  • Is this the most casual self-outing by a gay Repub­li­can in the his­tory of pol­i­tics or what?
  • The Boston Phoenix • In an arti­cle last week dis­cussing the com­ing out by Richard Tisei in the Boston Globe. Tisei is the state Sen­ate Minor­ity Leader and new run­ning mate for guber­na­to­r­ial chal­lenger Charles D. Baker. He put his com­ing out like this: “It is not exactly a news flash. I don’t think peo­ple really care these days.” As Mass­a­chu­setts has had legal­ized gay mar­riage for over five years now, that is a refresh­ing stance to take. Now, if only the rest of the coun­try could fol­low Mass­a­chu­setts’ lead. source
